Lambing occurs three times every two years on average.
Because they shed their wool, they do not require shearing or crunching, and are blow fly strike resistant.
The result is a breed that is drought resistant and thrives in adverse conditions.
The Dorper sheep breed was created by crossing Black Headed Persian ewes (from Somalia) with Horned Dorsets.
They are ideally suited to Australia?s tough conditions. Lambs often start grazing a few days after birth, and have a high survival rate.
